Department of Zoology
Introduction
The Department of Zoology was established in June 1971 with the aim of fostering a deep understanding of animal biology and its applications. Over the years, the department has provided quality education in zoological sciences, equipping students with essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Courses Offered
The department offers undergraduate programs in Zoology:
1. F.Y.B.Sc (First Year Bachelor of Science)
2. S.Y.B.Sc (Second Year Bachelor of Science)
These programs follow the semester-based Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) with a 60+40 CGPA evaluation pattern, ensuring a comprehensive and flexible learning experience.
Interdisciplinary Approach
The department actively collaborates with other disciplines, offering interdisciplinary courses such as:
A) Environmental Studies – Addressing ecological concerns and conservation biology.
B) General Knowledge – Enhancing awareness of scientific advancements and societal developments
.
C) Academic Excellence and Practical Learning
With a strong focus on both theoretical and
practical aspects, the department emphasizes fieldwork, laboratory experiments, and research activities to cultivate scientific curiosity and analytical thinking among students.
The Department of Zoology remains committed to academic excellence, research development, and environmental consciousness, preparing students for careers in academia, research, conservation, and applied life sciences.
